Storing passwords in the secure collections of AccelClip

In AccelClip you can store passwords, logins and other secure information. There is a special Passwords collection. You can protect this collection with a password and all clips and child collections will be encrypted (using Blowfish algorithm). AccelClip does not store passwords anywhere.

Using passwords

To use password (login, or anything other) of the record, set cursor into the destination field in application, where you need this login (for example on web form) and press Ctrl + Shift + P to activate AccelClip. Locate a password and hit Enter (or double-click it). Your password will be placed into the clipboard and pasted into the field. AccelClip will be minimized.

Adding a new password record

To create new password select Clip - Create New - New Password or click New password on AccelClip bar or press Ctrl + P. A special Add Password wizard appear on the screen.

This wizard contains following fields:

Collection. Destination collection. Please specify clips group, where you wish to place creating password.

Record name. The name of password record. This is a name of clips group, where your login and password will be stored. If you wish to add password to current group, leave this field empty.

Login. This field is for login. Type here a name of your account or other related information. This clip will be marked as 'Login'.

Password. Password field. Type here a password of your account or other related information. This clip will be marked as 'Password'.

Comments. Type here any comments for creating record.

Add more fields. If you wish to add other fields to the password record, check this box. AccelClip will ask you for these values on the next step.

For safety reasons, we recommend you store passwords in protected collections only (e.g. in child collections of PASSWORDS). If the destination collection is not protected you can see the warning in the bottom of this wizard. Click Protect now to protect destination collection with a password.

If you checked Add more fields and clicked Next >>, you can see the second step of Add Password wizard.

Type here all additional fields, you wish to store in the creating record. For example - URL. The left column is for field name (clip caption), the right column is for record data (clip body). Click Ok to create password record. AccelClip creates a separate clips group, where you can find all entered information, as it is shown on the figure below.

Security

In the preferences of AccelClip there is an option, that controls how to handle clips from protected collections. Default, protected clips will not be placed into the Windows Clipboard collection. But, if you are using any other clipboard logging software, this information became visible in this software logs.
