Clips collections

AccelClip manages all data as a clips. Clip is a fragment of text, graphics or other format data, stored in AccelClip. Clip may be created, moved, copied, saved to a file, viewed, edited, etc.

Collection is a group of clips. There are three kinds of collections: Windows Clipboard, Favorites and Trash.

All collections are managed by Clips manager. In the top part of this frame represented a tree of all available collections, in the second part (clips) - contents of selected one.

Windows Clipboard and Clips Trash collections

There are two specialized collections: Windows Clipboard and Clips Trash.

First collection represents an extension of standard Windows clipboard. It contains all clips, that were placed into clipboard in the reverse order. So, recent clips placed in the top of collection, older clips - in the bottom. The fist clip of this collection is always the current contents of clipboard.

There are some shortcuts, that handles clips from this collection:

You can adjust all shortcuts using Options » Preferences menu.
Clips Trash collection is a group of deleted clips. When you delete a clip from any collection it is placing into this folder and may be restored at any time.

Clipboard and Trash collections has size restrictions. When number of clips becomes larger than specified value, the older clips are erasing. Size of collections may be changed using Collection Properties command.

Clips Favorites collection

Clips Favorites is a collection intended to store user clips. The size of this collection is not restricted, and all items are stored permanently.

This folder can contain sub collections. To create - use Collections -> New collection menu.

The purpose of this collection is storing of data, which may be useful at any time, e.g. notes, personal data, e-mail addresses, text fragments, etc.

You can fill favorites collections with four different ways:

Creating new empty clip. Select Clip New clip menu and in the shown box detalize the type of clip. AccelClip will create a new empty clip and place it before currently selected one. You can type some text or paint an image using clips viewer.
Creating a clip from file on disk. Locate some file of any supported format in Files Browser and view it. Select some fragment and drag/drop to destination collection (or select Copy to collection ... menu).
From Windows Clipboard data. Drag some clip from clipboard collection to your favorites one and drop. Alternative way: select Clips » Copy to collection ... menu and in the shown box select destination collection.
Drag some data from any application (e.g. Miscosoft Word or Photoshop) to corresponding collection and drop.

Collections properties

Any AccelClip collection has following properties:

Name The name of collection. It is displayed in collections tree and used for collection identification.

Comments Text string - short description of a collection.

Shortcut This is key combination which may be used for activation of collection. Shortcut is system wide, so it may be used in any windows application. When a key combination, specified in this field, pressed, AccelClip activates corresponding collection. To hide AccelClip pres this keys again.

Size restrictions Applicable for Windows Clipboard and Clips Trash collection only. This is a maximal size of collection. When number of clips grows of this value, the oldest clips erasing.

To change any property of collection, use Clips » Properties menu item.
