Urijah Faber on how he trains for a fight
How does a world class mixed martial arts athlete train for a big up coming fight? Ultimate fighting championship fighter Urijah Faber gave us the details on what he does and how he prepares for a fight.
First off Faber let us know that he trains in all types martial arts hence the name mixed martial arts. Muay Thai, kick boxing, traditional boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu and a little bit of judo are to name just a few.
So how does a week go when Urijah Faber next fight is coming up quick? The California Kid gave us a brief break down of how a typical week leading up to a big fight plays out.
He says that every day he has at the very least two the three practices and all of them add up to a total of four to six a hours day. Pretty much a like a normal full time job, but much more physical work. Two days a week Faber spars in what he calls street boxing and then a for another few days the train by sparring in mixed martial arts style. Next comes grappling drilling or live grappling which takes place usually three days a week with individual trainers.
As for breaks Urijah Faber UFC fighter does not take that many. Faber stated that even if he does not have a big fight coming up, he is always training just as hard because that is what he is used to and it makes him feel good.
